ARMA Virginia Highlands is a study group of the Association for Renaissance Martial Arts (ARMA).  We seek to reconstruct the martial arts of Medieval and Renaissance Europe by studying the writings left behind by those who used these teachings to survive in a world quite unlike our own.  We might not use a sword to fight for our lives today, but the principles of fighting and the training of the willingness to close with an adversary while keeping you wits has not changed.

We meet at least once a week to train using the ARMA study approach and methodology.  We engage in this as a true combative art without choreography, showmanship, or escapism.

Our regular study group training is done at Park Street Park in Abingdon at 10am on Saturday mornings.  Uniform is black pants and red shirt for members with white shirts designating non-members/novices.  We meet for three hours with the final hour set aside for free-play/sparring.  I highly recommend that men wear groin protection!

Change:  This weekend we will be meeting at 2pm on Saturday.
